Newspaper in Sweden & ADHD
Last week a big daily newspaper in Sweden, called AftonBladet has been writing a few articles about Strattera.
The medicine which I have been testing for a little more then a month.
The first story was about 2 doctors who are advisers concerning Strattera.
Because Strattera is still not on the market in Sweden.
I was one of 600 people who could test it with a license.
As you have read by now it was a hopeful beginning but a terrible ending.
After I stopped I felt the next day that I woke up out of a nightmare!
I was so relieved and so was my wife, because right away I felt better.
Not so aggressive and irritated!
Of course I still have the problems, big ,heavy disturbing problems.
But at least I'm a little more in control, not the medicine.
anyway to come back to the article in Aftonbladet, the second article was about the experience of a 15 year old boy.
He was getting serious suicide thoughts, which he never had before he used Strattera.
And a article about a 25 year old girl.
She was getting crazy thoughts like when she did see children walking in the street she felt like kicking them.
She never had those thoughts before.
Now when she stopped with Strattera, she feels so much better again! ( with other meds now)
I recognize the crazy thinking and feelings they had.
One moment, that bad moment as I described I had before Easter was also so extreme crazy.
I felt like I was laying on the ground in the woods, and that I had to call my wife to tell her she had to pick me up.
Because I could not walk anymore.
(which was a hallucination since I was normal and walking in the same time I had this thoughts)
I am so happy that this journalist took the effort to write those articles!
Because it will become more difficult for Eli Lilly ( the producer of Strattera)
to get it on the Swedish market. Since the experiences in Sweden are also not good, I don't see any reason
why they should put it open on the Swedish market.
I don't know where I read it, but I have read it that it was meant to be a anti depressiva from origin.
And that Eli Lilly ( the producer of Strattera) decided to market it as a ADHD medicine.
So that way they still good make money with it.
And the ADHD market is a growing market.
Although I must say that although I have ADHD myself, according to the hospital in a high grade,
I still think that allot of times people give themselves or their children to 'easy' the label ADHD.
So many symptoms can also be caused by other or handicaps ,whatever you want to call it.
The reporter ask for my name and telephone nr.
I gave it to him, but will not give an interview in my own name.
The reason i simple: I have 2 companies and I have a fulltime job.
I don't want to be known as the one with ADHD.
I want to know as a 'normal' hard worker and company owner.
And the attention should not go to me. But to the fact that Straterra is a dangerous and bad medicine what should not be allowed on the Swedish market.
The blog is getting way to long again, so I better stop.
I'll let you know if they are going to interview me, and if it gets published.
And most of all I hope that I might be able to report later that the medicine will not be allowed on the Swedish market!

pictures from our kitten
Hi folks,
I know I have not been writing for about 5 days or so.
And then the last time I wrote I only anounced that we where expecting kittens.
And that has nothing to do with the original goal from my blogsite: ADHD.
But it's our first nest with our Siamese cats, so I just want to share some pictures.
I do that in this post and then I will go back to the ADHD subject again.
Here are some pictures:

Are they cute or what?
Only one kitten is reserved yet, a boy, he will go all the way to Germany.
The other 4 girls are still looking for a new home.
So write me if your interested!

moments of peace
Well today I went for a longer walk into the woods.
That's my way of getting a little calmer and a little more peace.
Today was a nice day.
The snow is on it's way out, and the wood looks beautifull now.
I took a few pictures that I want to share, I just took them behind our house in the woods.
Here are the pictures I took today:

Watch out for aspartame!
For people with ADHD, like me for example, it is important to reduce the
use of sugar as much as you can.
There are many stories about the fact that sugar is a danger for your health.
For me it's a fact, not just a story.
Since I reduce the use of sugar and also of addetives like colors ( on product labels announced with codes like
E310 etc) I felt a big difference, I became calmer.
Although it was not enough, it was nice to feel the difference.
But when I looked for alternative products, without sugar I could hardly find anything.
Because most already done food products that has no sugar has aspartame instead.
But aspartame is allot worse then sugar. That's why I really don't like it when they try to make people
believe that sugarfree products are better for your health!
Don'tbe fooled by the food industrie! sugarfree products (can be) even more dangerous for your health then products with sugar! This is because they use aspartame instead of sugar.
The companies who produce products with aspertame instead of sugar want to make you
believe that their product is better for your health! That's a BIG lie!
I'm not just saying that because I think so.
In the last years many scientists in different countries has proven in independent studies
that aspertame is not only bad for your health in general, they even mention it as a cause for cancer.
And many other serious health complains!
So not because of my sake, but of your own health sake: BOYCOT products with aspartame!
You can read more about aspartame and why it is so dangerous at the blog from Sepp Hasselberger.
He also gives allot of links to articles about the research what is done on aspartame.

Getting help is important!
The hospital where I go to has a ADHD team that has their focus on adults with ADHD.
In that team are Neurologists, Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Nurses, Cognitive Therapists etc.
And of course a secretary that keeps everybody connected with each other.
I read allot of testimonies on internet about adults with ADHD who have troubles finding help.
And many times when they do find help, it doesn't click.
Sometimes simply because the doctor or nurse of therapist simply don't really listen to them.
And other times there are other communication problems.
But I can say that I am thankful to God that he has put me in contact with this team.
I know I'm not always the easiest guy but they are fantastic!
My psychiatrist Dan has talked with me a few times over the last years about testing medicine.
But I wanted to try to live with the ADHD complains without medicine.
So I started to take less candy, sugar and food with colors and other additives.
It helped but not enough, so I started with meds anyway.
I have tested different kind of meds and nothing seemed to help.
If I didn't see results fast enough I would stop again.
But every time when I finally came back to him, for other idea's he
was always open to listen and willing to help.
I also did allot of reading about ADHD and meds myself.
And I can talk to him about that, and ask questions I have.
The same goes for the nurse Lena, who helps me and checks me with taking my meds.
She keeps a look at my blood pressure weight etc.
When I told her this, she confirmed that listening is their main point.
They want to listen to the adults with ADHD who come for help.
Because they want to learn as much as they can.
That's the right attitude, not thinking you know it all, but always want to learn more!
As an adult with ADHD you have been going around so long with lots of conflicts in your life.
Most of them as a result of ADHD, but most of us don't find it out until many years later.
Then when you do find it out it is such a relieve to have a team that takes you serious.
And will also help you to get a grip of your life again.
So despite all the problems, I do feel blessed and thankful!

I have a guestbook & Poll now!
Hi everyone,
It took me a while before I figured out how to do it, but I did.
I have made a guestbook and placed it in the menu on the leftside.
So if you don't want to comment my blogs in comments,
you can still leave a greeting or your opinion in my guestbook.
And I made a poll.
The first question is what you have for connection with ADHD/ADD.
Just so I can get an idea of the readers from my blog.

The start of my day....
I'm working already the whole morning on this blog.
So I should stop because I have allot to do.
But there is so much I would like to write about.
I will keep it short for now but I find it hard to explain to people what ADHD means.
what it does in my life.
So I will just describe the start of a day in my life:
When I wake up, I decide to take a shower.
So I go out of my bed and walk towards the shower.
Then I pass my office and think, oh yes I can already start my computer so when I come out of the shower I don't have to wait anymore. So I turn on the computer.
Then I go on to the shower but she the kitchen and decide to make myself a cup of coffee.
But before I do that I go back to the sleeping room to ask my wife if she also would like a cup of coffee.
We started to talk about anything else and finally I realize we talked to long.
I'm almost going to be to late for my work so I better get dressed.
Then I go back to my office and decide to check my emails, just quickly.
But of course I need a coffee, so I decided to start my email program and in the mean time
go to the kitchen and make coffee.
But then I realized that I forgot to ask my wife if she wanted a cup of coffee.
She said yes so I make a cup of coffee.(again....)
I know I'm late so I will take a quick shower.
But in the shower I realized that I made coffee and I don't want to let it get cold.
So I go back to the kitchen and get my cup of coffee.
When I'm having my coffee I might as well read the emails in the same time.
But of course I will first bring a cup of coffee to my wife.
Then when I finally sit down with my cup of coffee at my computer I see that I got some emails.
I quickly read them and look at the clock.
Oops, I'm going to be late if I don't hurry.
Still quickly answer some emails and then finally take the quick shower.
When I come out of the shower I realize I did not take any breakfast.
But it's already so late so I have to forget the breakfast and run to work.
The rest of the morning I walk around with a headache because I didn't eat breakfast.
So this is just a 'short' explanation of a day, well... morning in my life.
This might give you an idea how it is to live with ADHD.
And also how it is for my wife to live with me.
But there is hope!
I just started with a new medicine called Strattera.
And I also started now with therapy.
You can read more about that in the category: ADHD, testing meds & Therapy.
